Porto Formoso, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal -
We arrived at the Ponta Delgada airport at 7:30am. Several of Sandras aunts and uncles were there to greet us on our first visit to St Michael. It was very nice of them. We then got our rent-a-car and followed Tia Rosa to her house, where we would be staying. Porto Formoso is just North of the Lagoa Do Fogo and East of Ribeira Grande. The cottages at Tia Rosas were perfect. They provided a great view of the ocean below and are just a short walk to a wonderful beach.

Before leaving Boston we were ready for our adventure Arriving at the tiny airport 7am The windy road down to Port Formoso. Tia Rosas The Hydrangers were in full bloom and they are everywhere. It's the island flower.

The view from the cottage at Tia Rosas is great. The three cottages sit on a mountain side high enough to have a great panorama view. That is Rosas house directly in front. The grapes on Rosas patio. Tia Anise, Tio Manuel, Caterina and Catalina coming to pick us up for sight seeing.
More shots from the cottages The beach is great in Port Formoso, just 2 minutes walk from the cottages. The water was about 76 degrees, not too cold. Playing card with Tio Joe, Tia Rosas, Mark, Tyler and Ryan.a little wine and cheese too.
There was a great view point just up the road from Port Formoso Sandra at the vantage point   Partying at Tia Rosas

All shots from the vantage point. The sights there were breathtaking. The skies were blue the water is blue and clear and there lush green everywhere.
